give up and feel the night
go out of your head
do what you know is right
the sun's gone down to bed

look around you, the moon is out
the streetlamps light my way
live it up while the lights are out
the night is half the day

wake up to cure the pain
a night like this won't come again
forget about what you thought you knew
a new world awakens when the day is through

sometimes the night can bring
unknown person, unknown place
but that's when the hidden thing
finally shows its face

why do i work so hard
when the sun is sleepy?
it's because after dark
i connect with a feeling



foundations

brick on mud, the house is built
a beautiful home on shifting earth
granite on sandstone, the building rests
and has since its birth

can this house survive the wind from the hills?
can it bear the weight of a thousand battlefields?

thinkin' about my life and the choices i have to make
collecting all the thoughts that are scattered amongst the mountains and the plains
flying over they are spots forming words in a different language
clear like sheets of water on glass, but written backwards

a bridge connects two cities, spanning a gulf
two guards protect access, in the middle is love

people can pass only one way, the price is too high
the two may never meet even though they may try

Apollo, you've taken a rest
from your daily labor
i need your warmth on my skin
can i ask of you a favor?

i realize your whims
are beyond my grasp
but even so
for this concession i ask

don't run away, sun

from this chilly place
can you deliver?
don't let the cold creep in
giving me the shivers

will you stay a little longer?
don't shroud your passenger with clouds
i want to dance and play
under your warm summer rays
